Took the wife hunting 2009 season, her first season. First hunting trip was a damage hunt for whitetail. She shot two less than five min apart.:D Then took her to a friends place, where she dumped a mulie.:D The second to last day of season slept in, staying at my cousin's house, and the wife jumps up, and demands we go hunting. So went to the NF, didn't get 200yds in and she spotted two mulie does, we both had tags. I'd left my rifle all the way in the rear of the vehicle. The deer were aprox 50yds from us. I grabbed the 44mag from under the seat, I didn't know which one she could get a bead on through the trees, so I let her shoot first, mine trotted off a couple of steps, and I took my shot at mine. So last year she plugged four deer, with the 270 Savage she got for her birthday. This year, she's hunting mulies without me:(. I won a year long vacation in Afghanistan.

I get into trouble for using her Blue press she stole from me. I also get into trouble for not taking her to the range with me:)

This next summer my son turns 12. He's indicated that he's interested. I hope to see that he can shoot like his mom does. I know he can, hope he likes it and will stick with it. He has talent's like that.

I'm grateful for your service and I'm sorry that you are having to be away from your family. Your post brings the true nature of our service men and women's sacrifice to the front of the list of things that we should all be thankful for.

My kids all hunt and fish. My oldest son and daughter are probably more intense about it than the youngest son and daughter but they all enjoy it at some level. My son-in-law got a heck of a bargain when he married my oldest daughter. She's a girly girl. She fishes. She bird hunts. She deer hunts with a rifle and bow.

Here husband took a picture of her hunting from one of her blinds last year. She was decked out in full camo, sitting in the living room. She had the screen off of the window and was hunting a feeder that she had him put in the back yard :D (I know... I can't stand how we hunt over feeders in TX either. But that's how it is)

One of the first times I took her fishing we were zipping along at about 35 mph (GPS verified) in my little 14' Express. It had, emphasis on had, a little 35 hp Navy Seal surplus motor on it and it would scoot. We zipped down the intracoastal canal, made a hard right into East Matagorda bay, and headed out to some fishing holes I had tagged in the GPS. The sun was shining, the water was right, and the engine was purring when all of the sudden- silence. I looked back at the motor and a little smoke wafted out. My daughters eyes were wide open and she said "Dad! what are we going to do!". I said, "you better throw that anchor out because we are drifting the wrong way. May as well bait up and fish because we aren't going anywhere anytime too soon." :D We ended up catching a couple of nice reds and a speckled trout. A buddy of mine came and hauled us in when he got off of work. Oh- the water pump went out. I found out years later the guy that I bought the boat from installed something backwards when he overhauled it. He worked part time at a boat shop. That's a scary thought...

I took her on her first deer hunt. She shot a pretty nice buck. Like they always seem to do, he ground shrunk a tad, but for a first deer it was pretty nice. I let her use my .270 and she handled it well for a gangly 14 year old girl. When she shot he ran to our left and disappeared in some scrub. I was pretty sure that she hit him because he humped up when she shot. We walked down to where he stood when she shot and found him about 15 yards to the left. As we were looking him over she said "I'm glad that I shot him but I feel sad inside too". I said " baby girl, that's a good thing. You always want to have respect for what you kill when you're hunting." After that she was fine.

All great memories that have stuck with me 10 years. Now I have a grandson that didn't fall far from mom and dad's tree so I'm sure we'll have some good times together when he gets a little older.

My wife didnt hunt before she met me, but now she loves it. My oldest kids by a previous marriage, Zach 21 and Kelsi 23 do, or in Kelsi's case, has and does on occasion.

We have just adopted 3 sisters ages 5, 5 and 6. They dont yet, have been to the dove fields with us, but they will have their chance as they get old enough.

Wife doesn't hunt but I want to get her into it. She target shoots but has grown out of it. I can't wait to introduce my son and daughter to target shooting and hunting. I am already looking at rifles and shotguns for them.

Lil Misses will hunt small game we have some rabbit dogs , and she likes to hunt Groundhogs . I got her a Remingtion 700 VFS in 22-250 she does pretty good her longest shot so far is 295yds/m not to shabby. I showed her how to shot hand guns and now she out shots me. As the kids go we have seven between us and and all the boys go hunting and 2 out of 3 of the girls do.

my wife and daughter love to hunt havent wanted to shoot anything yet. both are good shots but afraid of wounding an animal. working on their hesitation. my two oldest sons were raised on varmit shooting and target shooting and they love to hunt. my oldest is a pilot of a blackhawk and he just shot a moose and muskox. he did two tours already, one in kosovo and iraq. said hunting and shooting really helped in basics. the second is attached to seal team 4 as an eod specialist and all of his shooting has come in handy in close quarter combat training. my stepson loves to hunt and is a crack shot even on running game. shot his first whitetail at 300 yards running away on a quarting shot. dropped him in his tracks with one shot of a 308. a little squeamish on dressing out the game yet, but working on that. my third son is a good shot, has killed game but isnt really interested. he said that it helped a lot in basic at the airforce academy tho this last year. almost thru with his first year now. plan on getting the wife and daughter (only ones left at home) in ipsc and trap or skeet this year as well as hunting.

Wife shoots the bow, rifles, and handguns, but not interested in hunting. Daughter will be two next week and I have another child on the way, so it will be a minute until they're ready.

Future wife hunt, with rifle, bow, shotgun, also fish's
got her first deer with a rifle in south texas last year, still trying to set her up for first bow kill

I was heading out to shoot some squirrels today when my 2yr old son yelled out,
"I want to go hunting with you!!" Well how can you say no to that!
Took him on his first hunting adventure and bagged 3 squirrels. We both had a blast! The first of what I hope will be several hunting trips with my son.gun)

Are you kidding? My wife gets an attitude when I mention hunting, reloading, duck decoys or dogs. It's only been 37 years. Do you think I have a chance?

My wife was taught to hunt by her father . She watches over the the little ones . I am looking forward to purchasing a hot pink BB-gun (Remington of course) :D and take the whole family hunting ! I took my wife hunting on our first date . Top that !! LOL she says it wasnt but I know it was ...

My wife has shot a deer but doesn't care either way. However this is a plus for me she doesn't complain about all my hunting or money spending and I don't have to pay for two hunters. Well not yet I got a 2yr old son that will be my future hunting partner. Can't wait

When I met my wife she was an anti. A member of Greenpeace, and other organizations. She was very anti gun. It took six months to convert her. Today she will shoot a Moose faster than I will.

My wife collects 357 Mag pistols. She is a Certified Shooting Instructor, and teaches women's home defense courses. She started our son shooting at the age of five, with a little Chipmunk 22. Our son is now 23 and has been hunting since he was 8. He shot his first Caribou at the age of 8. First Wolf at the age of 10, and first Moose at 11 with a 58 cal muzzle loader.

Okay, we need to refine the question a little more because I feel left out! How about "Does your spouse and/or kids hunt?" I am in the unique position of having a husband who does not big game hunt.

My eldest daughter (16) and I are hunting fools. After a 16 year break from big game hunting while I raised my girls, I took her antelope, deer, and elk hunting last year. She has harvested her first antelope, passed on three deer under 100 yds, and had multiple elk in her scope at 75 yds, just the wrong sex! She is a terror on paper targets, loves squirrel hunting, doesn't mind hunting in 10 degree weather for elk, or hiking over hill and dale playing tag with speedy goats! Weighs 100 lbs, can carry a 50lb pack, and doesn't shy away from helping me field dress and butcher. She proudly served antelope burgers from the grill on her 16th birthday! Her FB profile picture is her shooting her rifle from a bench rest.

This year, I cajoled my husband into going antelope hunting for the first time, and my youngest daughter (12) wants to fill her antelope tag with her bow! I did a good job convincing my hubby that antelope were just like playing hide and seek, and that it was tons of fun! We will all finally be doing this together for the first time! I can die a happy woman after that hunt!
