I own an Encore Rifle & also a Contender Super 14 in 223 & 30/30AI. The Contender has impressed me a great deal for a Handgun & the ranges I use it. The Encore has failed to please, I do know some are quite accurate, but setting up a rifle for normal "for most people" ranges or even out to 600 or so is one thing, but setting up a rifle for 1000 yards is a whole different animal. I believe the Encore is just not the right platform to give you good odds in winding up with a 1000yd. rifle, not saying it can't be done, but surely not the platform to try. If I was starting from scratch right now with a new, non-custom rifle, I would go with Sav or Rem, most likely the new Rem 700 Long Range rifle since you can get it in 30-06 that you want and considering the stock. I saw one today for $689.00, you could get a good base, rings, skim bed & new trigger and still be in for about a Grand & then just get a scope. I think this could curb alot of frustration, speaking from experience with both platforms!
