My question is how would one go about fitting brass to a factory cut chamber. The rifle in question is a factory 300 WSM. I have tried necking down 300 Rem. Ultra mag brass since they are based of the same parent case, the .404 Jeffery and have had less than admirable results. Anyone have any ideas?

buy Redding body bump die ($25) and take 10 cases fired 3x and send them to Jim Carstenson at JLC Precision (go to 6mmbr.com and look for his info under the "Tools" link)

Cost will be about $80 and he will take the body bump die and make it a custom honed FL size die with neck bushings that will fit that chamber. Turnaround is about 2 weeks or so.

step one: sell the RUM brass that you don't need.
step two: just purchase 300wsm brass (Norma if possible or win).

Either set up your fl sizing die according to your chamber or neck size them after they are fired first in your chamber. Rum brass isn't exceptional so it doesn't pay to go through the trouble since Norma makes excellent wsm brass.
