W. i live bang in the middle of 4 Armoured Brigade. We have The Duke of Wellingtons Regt and 1Bn Scotts Guards. I hunt with an officer from Guards and with an A mech attached to the Dukes. Both units are on deployment at the moment but i will be in to see the rear party on Monday, i know at least one unit Armourer will be on rear party in both Barracks and if the units have the ACI the Regimental Armourer will have fitted em to the rifles( I know cos i spent 10 years doing that job). I know the Dukes had never seen an ACI until showed em one a couple of months back. I think we are just talking about the difference between standard or general issue and special issue and or local purchase. I hope i am proved wrong and they are on general issue, they should be. If they are i will be mighty impressed. Unfortunately i know the Brit logistics and supply system, and i doubt that an ACI is fitted to every sniperrifle within the Brit Army, as would be the case if the thing was on General or standard issue. Its all by the by, the piece of equipment is excellent, it is a must for every sniper, it should be on every sniper and designated marksman rifle throughout NATO. I am in contact with these units in this garrison often as ive been doing the gunsmithing for the garrison hunting / shooting club for the last 14years or so. I certainly haven't seen an ACI issued to these lot yet, it may be that they get them when they deploy, but as i said, that ain't general or standard issue. so you can't claim that. In use with British snipercurrently in Iraq and Afganistan is a whole different kettle of fish in choice of words and thats what Brown Dog was getting at..Anyway, i will go and see on monday, and i will certainly be trying to convince any shooters in germany that they need one, general issue or not. Let you know what i find out ok.. Pete
