The biggist problem I have seen to date is starting with incorrect velocity and wrong bc numbers. I used to shoot every distance. About 10 years ago I started using the Sierra Infinity program. Now, my currant LR guns are my 1k match gun and a custom that I have had for 15 years.....I know the balistics inside and out. BUT...... a couple of the guys that I load for said that they are consistantly hitting high/low at extended ranges when they dial up. I finaly took the guns away and am going to do some testing in the next two weeks. First, all shots will be over my new chrono. I will zero the guns at 300 EXACTLY!!!. Without doing any adjusting I will shoot groups at 500 and 800 and measure actual drops. I will then shoot each gun at 100 and dial up 30 min and make sure that the scope is actualy doing what it's told. I will take this data and adjust the computer perameters to match my actual findings. Both of the said guns are shooting Berger 210 VLD's and i know that the older BC's were not right, so I will play with both velocity and BC. I will then to to the range and conferm at 600, 1000, and 1200 yards. My luck I will need to start over because I screwed something up!!!:D But what the hell, I get to shoot on someone elses dime!! Anyone have anything to add that may help me out?? Thanks.
