This was my first year going west from Michigan. I did not get an animal on the ground but yet it was a huge success. I learned a lot. Mostly about how unprepared I was physically and mentally for the terrain. I also got to spend 9 straight days hunting with my dad. That alone was worth it. I attribute the ability to make the trip a lot to the people on this forum and rokslide. Between these 2 forums I gained enough information and motivation to plan the trip and go through with it. I have been reading and researching for quite some time and I wish I would have done it sooner. It was amazing and there are no words for the beauty that this country has to offer. Not just in scenery. its also the quality of people you meet along the way. We hunted unit 64/65 for 2nd rifle and it was busy but nothing like state land in Michigan. it was very enjoyable. The people we meet were great. I just wanted to say thank you for everyone here and all the help I received directly from questions I asked and just from shared information. I am excited to go back. We will be getting some points and trying again in 2 years for a draw unit that doesn’t have the pressure for elk. We want a little less people and my dad would like some easier terrain. I hope everyone had a good season and enjoyed themselves. Good luck on the next one! Matt
