I have been slowly looking for parts for longer range shooting, and I have come across a Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinder for $125 OBO. If it is in good condition, would it be a good deal. Only looking to get out to 500 yards for now.

Buy it. They will blow away anything in its price range! I am able to range my 15" by 15" steel gong at 1114 yards about 80% of the time.

I would definitely pass on this one.

After dinking around at 500 or so you'll naturally start stretching it abit. That's when you'll run in to problems.

The dispersion of the beam is sufficient to range on the wrong thing. It may pick a tree that is a bit closer than the target. If the distance is sufficient it will be a definite miss.

Just happen to know all about that situation.
