My first 300WSM used a Broughton 5c barrel and reason for the 5c (cant) Obermeyer owns the right to the 5r and stopped Tim North from using that. I was one of the first to get one of his 5c barrels and the loading data back then was kind of iffy but before I had that rifle rebarrel new stock etc I'd shot it as factory and some reloads. I had 1/12 twisted put on 25" long wanted to shoot the 165gr bullets and I also owned 30-338mag,300mag and 300wby all custom. I also have a 30-06 with Bartlein 1/11.25r barrel and another 300WSM with Krieger 1/11.25r barrel and 270Wby in the works with one of Mike Rock 5r barrel and Shilen 1/13 Ratchet twist 4groove barrel on another 30-06. I've been pretty lucky in the gunsmiths and barrels I've had put on. 95% of my rifles I do better than published velocity and the Broughton was one of them and I got few Lilja 3 groove barrels that are pretty fast also. I'm also not shooting the standard type twist/rifling and length normal found in factory so some gain velocity is due to that. I'm doing better with the Kreiger barrel 300WSM but it 2.5" longer than the Broughton and the Broughton did better than the factory barrel.
