break-in

kinda late now. break in starts from the first round.

shot and clean after each round for the first 10-20 rounds or so. then start cleaning after each 3 round goup. everyone has there own process. I use something simular to this. look at Krieger, Lilja, Pac-nor or any other barrel makers website and they all have their own process for break in. But if you have already shot 40 rounds I would just come up with a good cleaning ritual and start load work-ups. If the barrel dont shoot you can always replace it and start fresh :)

I would soak the barrel overnight with a copper cutter and scrub the bore so there is no visible trace of copper. Then take it to a smith with a borescope and check for any machining burs. You may find it has already been broken in with those 40 rounds providing there hasnt been to much copper built up.

Hopefully none of the burrs you knocked off scratched the bore or the lands.
