best time for prairie doggin

The title says it all when is the best time for prairie dog hunting in ND/SD. When are all the youngins running around? gun)

Any time Im in the pasture with a rifle. Late May to mid June is the time for shooting p dog pups. I get plenty of shots within ranges for the 17 HM2 and 17 HMR rifles.

We always go the last week in June. The weather has always been perfect and the pups are weaned and running around.

June 15th in south central SD. You can adjust a bit on each side of that date of course.

Some western states actually have a closed season..Apr 15-June 15.....to protect the young pups....this is usually on public lands...as in Utah..private farm property is not included..we start shooting second week of May.....pups are up & running.....
