When I shot the troat out of my last Rem 700, I had some nice brass still good. I made a 6.5/06, necked the brass up to 6.5 caliber with a Redding long tapered expander. I have a 25" Brux, 8 Twist barrel using that same Winchester 25/06 brass. 147 Hornady ELD-M's are dong 2900 shooting tight groups, and with Lapua 30/06 brass necked down and neck turned, I am doing a tad over 3000 fps with the 147's. Just a thought for when your barrel gets shot out, but I did this prior to the Berger 133 coming out. Perhaps it is just the Brux barrel, but the 6.5/06 has proven to be easier to develop bug hole loads with using several powders with a std SAAMI reamer. The first bullet I shot was the 127g Barnes LR, with the accuracy node at 3150 fps, seated .050 off the lands. A friend is trying to talk me into going AI on the next 6.5/06 barrel where he is getting the 140g Partitions accurate at 3150. IN my brother's 25/06 Rem long range that they were selling a few years ago for $550, he is shooting the Berger 115's at 3050 fps with R#22 with a cci 250 primer. His groups at 500 yards are impressive to say the least, not to mention how well the 115's drop deer and hogs. I would love to hear of anyone that has shot the New hornady 110g ELD-X, accuracy and expansion characteristics.
