i recently purchased a 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag from my grandfather, shot very little. i have already outfitted with a Leupold 6-18 with target knobs, Leupold double dovetail bases and rings, and a harris bipod. my goal for this year is to take a 500yd deer, what bullet would be best for taking deer at this range?? already have some rounds loaded w/ 150gr nosler bt's and 63gr. IMR 4831, shoots about .550 at 100 off the bipod.
i want a bullet that is capable of taking a deer at 500+, and have been told that the 150 bt is not going to be up to the task.
thanks for the help

dan the rule of thumb is 1000 ft.lb.of energy my 7mm08 has that with 140 gr.nobt. the thing is make sure your gun will shoot acc.at that range the 7mm mag is very good long range gun with the rite bullet good shooting marlow
