Has any one heard about the where you have to tell the local fire department how much and what kind every year

I heard of one guy who had 1,200 pounds of smokeless in the basement of a cabin and 100,000 primers stored in the same spot. Should his stash ignite in the confined basement the cabin would have floated on top of a big fireball. It is the responsibility of the state fire marshal to apply common sense regulations on stuff like smokeless powder & primers - but like many situations corruption & compromise can override common sense requiring executive response. Various states have regs regarding amounts of smokeless powder and primers that may be stored. Certain exceptions require extraordinary storage facilities like sprinkler systems, barricades separating powder lots & periodic inspections. In the event of injury or death, liabilities would be massive, like a lawyer's bonanza.

The issue is any mount of powder has to be registered which means the ATF can come and check up on it at any time or if you don't do your report on time they may be able to come after it
