We routinely make shots well past that. Whitetail out to 750, elk at 1000, and the 28 Nosler excels at those distances. I didn’t reveal it in my first post, but 3300 fps is doable in my rifle with the 195’s, but it shoots ragged holes at 2950, and hitting targets at distance is really quite easy. I don’t shoot at game in much wind. Daylight shots are the norm for us at deer and elk. Middle of the day we’re generally among them. We’ve spent our time scouting and as a rule we’re looking at game at first light. Where we hunt wind is generally good then. My last Kansas deer it was probably blowing close to forty, but he was close, bang flop. He never knew what hit him.
