I've got a 7mm that I need to make up some reloads for
the guy want good velocity and accuracy (don't we all) with a 140gr Accu-bond.
Anybody have a favorite powder for this caliber?
Its a 26" barrel

Well I have two favorite powders for this cal. First is the old faithful RL 22, and the second is IMR 4831. Many people are liking the H 4831 SC these days but I haven't used any yet. My best accuracy came with 150gr. Nosler BT's backed by 61gr. of IMR 4831. But you might want to try some of the Sierra Matchking 175's they are SWEET. I am having excellent results with them. Sorry but I havn't got a load for the 140 accubond yet.

Good Luck and you can't go wrong with RL22 and IMR4831. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm a fan of H4831sc. I'm loading 63.5gr behind a 150gr NBT and CCI Primer.

I recently shot the ladder test for the first time with some IMR4831 and was very encouraged by the results. I'm still in load development and don't have any loads to share as of yet......

If you could stabilize it the 162gr A-max has a incredibly high bc. I think around .620. Hornady recommends a 1-9 twist for this so good luck. The bullet is a very light jacket so it wouldn't be much good for anything real big, but I bet it would kick butt on some long range whitetails or antelope.

Good Luck

Bullet: 150Ggr Nosler BT
Powder: R-22 67.5gr
Case: Wichester W-W
Primer: Rem mag

This is the most accurate load I have found for my LSS and a friends rifle. It will shoot .5@ 100 yards when I am on top of my game avg. .75 Velocity is around 3100 out of my 24' tube. This load is near MAX in my gun start at 65gr and work up to 68gr. As for the 140gr Accubond start at 62gr and work up to 69.5 MAX. The BT load is absolutly devastating on Whitetails and stay off the shoulders. The Accubonds hold up a bit better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Bullet: 162Ggr A-Max
Powder: H4831SC 66.0gr
Case: Wichester W-W
Primer: Rem mag

This load shoots great also and is in the high 3000fps range

Bullet: 175gr Nosler Partition
Powder: IMR-4350 58.5gr
Case: Wichester W-W
Primer: Rem mag

This Partition load is one of my Faves hits like a hammer and will hold a group just under an inch in the 2900fps range.

If you need any more data let me know Ive done a bit of testing with 7Mag. Good Luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

JD,
I load 150gr NBT and Scirocco with 67.0gr RL22 & CCI BR2's. Velocity runs 3100-3150fps with accuracy below .5". Shoots like a dream in my Sendero. Johnny K.

I've loaded for my dad's 7 mag for years and never found it to be finiky. I've tried 150BT's, 160 accubonds, and 160 Gamekings all shot well with H 4831sc. IMR 4350 works well too (as does R-22). He now uses 160 Accubonds with 65.5grs of H 4831sc in Win brass and Fed 215m primers. Averages .75 moa and just under 3000 fps. Shot a nice 4x4 bull last fall and it worked great.

Been playing with a 7RM this season and using 162gr SST and Amax molied, Rem brass, Fed 215M primers. Lee collet neck sized and bullets seated to fit in the mag of a Savage 110C.

My best powders have been Re25 and IMR 7828. H1000 for me has been a dud. Want to try Retumbo if I can find some locally. Using max/near max book loads of either. The Re 25 worked better with the Amax. So far early testing wtih the IMR 7828 and SST's indicate a winner too.

I chronied the Re25/Amax load and it went 3170fps. Toasty, YEP but shoots under 1/2" at 180yds. Brass has survived 4 reloads and counting.

Continued to be very impressed with these Savage rifle. This one wears that horrid plastic stock but when free floated agressively and bedded (yes, you can bed these stocks), they run like champs. Maybe that stock isn't so horrid. This is my second factory Savage that shoots this well. I only own two.

Will chrony the IMR loads shortly to compare.

68 Grains of R22 under those 140 Accubonds should be a great load as well as 68 Grains of H4831. R22 has been the most consistent powder I've used in my 7RM.

Good Luck!

71grn,H-1000,CCI250 Primer,168Berger,WW brass=3060fps
Same load for 160 Sierra game king.
69.5grn,H-1000,CCI250 Primer,180Berger,WW brass=2950fps
All of this is out of a Remington 700pss,26"barrel. Both loads shoot under1/2" at 100 yards. Got another mod 700 that loves 64grns of IMR 4350 an 160 Gamekings,24 in barrel. Same brass an primer. Haven't got any data for 140's. Hope this helps!

Mine likes:

Win Brass
CCI 210s
70 grains H1000
168 gr Bergers 0.008" in the lands

First three shots just the other day at 100 yds were one ragged hole.

168 gr SMKs also worked well with the exact recipe from above jumping 0.042" to the lands.
