I have an IPhone, my brother had a Droid and just switched to an IPhone. If you get an iPhone the ballistic FTE app works real well for me. It will do an automatic calculation for elevation and you can set it on top of your scope and it calculates the angle too. One thing about the iPhone that I like is there is a case available called an Otter Box. I don't know if they are available for droid but it is an incredible case. I dropped my phone when we were framing my shed from the rafters, about 12' to a concrete floor, it bounced about 4 feet and broke a corner off the case but the phone was not damaged. It has an integrated screen protector that works very well and a nice belt clip. I have the new 4s phone on the Verizon network and have been pleased with the performance and coverage. I had an AT&T phone before and coverage was horrible unless you were in town. I have used my phone in fairly cold conditions, 18 degree's in Colorado when the wind was blowing and it was snowing and didn't have any issues. Several different times in the 20's so I don't think cold affects it much. Couldn't say how it would do in really cold conditions.
