I was wondering about setting up a rifle with a two piece base/mount. Then I got to thinking about deflection with front heavy rifles with open top receivers, and when in the process is the best time to mount a scope with two piece bases? If I support the barrel tip and mount, when I take the support away I introduce deflection. If I just mount and and tighten the rings, deflection! Lapp yea definitely would help, but what if you have to lap too much and still don’t get out of it? What if you do set it up with lapped rings and everything is fine, until you pull the trigger? Deflection??? Geeesh, I’m bored...
