Well I ended up machining a small angled shim to go under the base just to see what it would do. I ended up with a 70 minute base. I still have almost a full revolution left to turn down. I went out to the range on Sunday and zeroed at 100. I shot to 2, 3, 4 and 500. The scope was right on at each distance. I went back to 100 and did a three shot group in a 1" square. I then jumped out to 1000. At 1000 I adjusted 21 minutes and hit the steel on first shot. At 1000 I still have 49 minutes to go. So I jumped out to 1500, it took me three shots but I hit the steel at 1500. I adjusted 34 minutes and still had some left. I am amazed how true the riffle shoots and how much adjustment I ended up with. I know it's probably not the normal thing to do but I had to satisfy my curiosity. I don't know but I’m thinking of having the machinist at work make a solid base like this for me. Thank you guys for all the input to my questions. I love learning more and more about long range. There is just something about it that just keeps driving me to reach further out there.
