I was reading yesterday that some of the guys using M70 and M700 actions with the WSM (which is based on the jeffries right?) are having trouble with extractions. From what I read, the barrel doesn't have much metal remaining around the chamber with those fat cases and upon firing the reciever will momentarily swell. The brass will swell to meet the chamber walls and when the pressure bleeds off and the reciever and barrel shrink back down the brass sticks the bolt or gives you VERY hard extraction. It's not suppossed to be as bad with a M700 action, as they have just a bit more meat around them than the M70. Have any of you shooters expierenced this? I don't think it's a problem with custom actions, as they are much heavier at the bridges. Dave, That would be one sweet looking barrel. I could go to 32" or maybe even 34" with one like that. Reason I don't flute my 6.5 is they burn out so **** fast shooting comps.. (I might get 850 fom this tube, the lands are already uneven at 617 rounds) that extra $100 for fluting is better spent on the next barrel If I can get 2000 from a wissum,, I'll flute. I should start buying standard Douglas' barrels and save the money. Two barrels a season is gonna be expensive. Guess it's time to start buying my reamers. Speedbump, That mean we might see the CANNON again. If you didn't stake the mat down to the firing line,, you'd take off like you were on a majic carpet each time you touched one of them monsters off FatBoy...
