My question that i am wanting to get a tikka t3 lite and thinking about 7mm08 and 260rem but can not decide

-both have the almost the same recoil
    -.260 has more higher BC.s
-But 7mm08 has one bullet that is higher BC. = .625 (162 amax)
    -7mm08 has more components available
-260 commonly flatter than the 7mm08
    -7mm08 has more energy (apparently)

Im am mostly shooting paper/gongs ect and goats

Thanks for help in advance ;)

I've shot both and liked both but if the time comes and you want to hunt something bigger where you would like the heavier bullet I would have to go with the 7-08,another thing if your buying loaded ammo you can find 7-08 just about everywhere but not so with 260rem.Atleast that the way it is here in upstate ny.

    I don't think Tikka is importing the 260 to the USA . I think it's the 6.5 x 55 that is available . Jim

The 7/08 has an advantage, all though not much .

They are both excellent choices. The 260 would be a better long range choice but not by much. The 7mm 140 Berger vld is a real performer in the 7-08. The 7-08 would get more life out of the barrel which means you could shoot more. But you will not regret either one. Good Shooting!!!

From the ballistic charts I have looked at the 7mm-08 out performs the 6.5mm 260 out beyond 600 yrds. The 260 has more match factory ammo available which is a big plus. Neither have the ammo selection that the 308 or 243 Winchester do.

Really? in what aspect does the 7-08 outperform the 260?
