Hey all, I had a question about 7mm wsm. I know it is not that popular of a load but I snagged a browning A-bolt new in 7mm WSM for 375 bucks with leupold mounts and rings and 60 rounds of winchester super X. I hunted with the super X last year and it worked out well enough, however, I am dissappointed with the rounds over all. It is ok to hunt at 200 or less yards but it is not a crazy accurate gun. At 100 yards I was getting between 1.5-2 inch groups, while with my old beat up savage 110 in 7mm rem mag I get 3/4 inch or less, groups at 100 yards. One might ask why I even bother with the browning A-bolt if my savage shoots so well, well needless to say, the Browning A-BOLT is a much lighter/smaller gun to carry around in the woods and the savage is really starting to show signs of wear. So my question is.....does anyone have a 7mm WSM, if so which brand/type rounds do you shoot? The funny thing with my savage 110 is if I use federal or winchester ammo, it shoots terrible...2+ inch groups at 100 yards, but using remmington core-locs it shoots the 3/4inch or less groups. So I am wondering if maybe my A-BOLT just does not like the winchester super Xs and I should be shooting something else? Unfortunately I do not think remmington core-loc comes in a 7mm WSM or else I would have tried that.
