7mm-08 short 20" barrel. What powders?

I already have a good load using Varget. However, if I couldn't leave well enough alone, what powders are giving higher velocities out of the shorter barrels?

I use Varget in my 7mm-08 and .308 Win.

use the sooper performance hornady factory ammo for more velocity. or a load like it.

I shoot a finnlite with a 20" with cfe223 and a 120ttsx and get 3220 fps .

It is not true that a faster powder is necessary for a shorter barrel. Use the same powders that you would use for a longer barrel.

RL-17 will give some of the highest velocities due to the special formulation.

Get some I m r 4064 (I hate this dang iPad) and w760.

RL 17 definately interests me. I have RL 19 but it might be a little too slow. I have zero experience with IMR 4064 or W 760. I guess it will depend on what's available.

Those 3 suggested, RL-17, IMR4064 and Winchester 760 are all fine powders for your application. I would lean to RL-17. All seem to be on the shelves at the moment.

I settle on Varget with 140gr bullets in my 20"7mm08. Best velocity/accuracy combo for my riifle.
