7mm-08 rem 2800 FPS or better?

I'm trying to get 2800 fps or hopefully better useing 140gr gameking or hornady 139gr btsp I'm shooting it out of a 24 inch barrel and I'm neck sizing the case?Any body have any good loads for this?The gun is a thompson encore with a 24 inch barrel.

I've been playing with reloader 17 in my 7-08 with a 24" bbl . I'm using the 139 btsp Hornady . using a chrony beta @ 10 feet . 45.0 grains is giving me 2840ave fps . 47.0 is giving me 2994 ave fps . so far though the accuracy is not good . I've got a few more things to try then I'm giving up on this powder / bullet combo . I'm trying to make it work , but I think I'm beating a dead dog . Jim

I load a friends Savage in 7mm-08 for deer hunting. The load that works great for deer is a 139 Hornady BTSP over 50.5 grains of RL-19, in RP cases and WLR primers. This load is death on deer and is accurate. My chronograph shows 2865-2875 ft/sec out of a 22 inch barrel.

I'm using 42.5gr Varget and getting 2800 w/139 Spitzers Norma brass BR-2 primers. I know some guys using the 140 Sierra with 42.0 grains of Varget and getting right at 2800 also.

WW 760 powder worked very well in a rifle I had using the 145 Speer 'Hot-Core' Spitzer. You need to use magnum primers for this powder.

There are lots of powders that will safely do 2800 with a 140 grain bullet so you will just have
to experiment. I use H414 and it exceeds 2800 ft/sec. For hunting my pet load is A 120 grain
ballistic tip, RP cases, CCI BR4 primers and 49.5 grains of h 414 for 3010 in cold weather.In warm
weather it speeds up to over 3100 ft/sec so be careful in hot weather.

I found that the 120 grain actually out performs the 140s on game and the extra velocity
makes it a lot flatter.

I and others have made shots well beyond 500 yards that were one shot kills "DRT".
