700 Varmint Special 243 and the 105 A Max???

I have an old Remington 700 Varmint Special in 243 and was wondering if it has the proper twist to stabilize the 105 grain A Max bullet?? Tlaked to Sierra about their 107 and they said not to even bother trying........

Don't know the twist rate on a Varmit Special, but Hornady says a 1 in 9 twist or faster for the 105 Amax.

I have a Rem 243 VS and it has a 1 in 9.125" twist. It will shoot the 105 AMAX into a 1.5" 3 shot group at 300yds and 5" at 600yds. I tried it at 1000yds and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!!! I really think you need a faster twist than what the Rem VS, especially if you are going to shoot in cold weather.
