I have wondered why this little chambering has never made it to the AR platform. The loaded ammo is not cheap and not much of a hunting bullet either. I've never found anything other than FMJ...maybe that's why it has not been intro introduced. Just received some .310 120gr Gold Dots! Also a box of .310 125gr Barnes bullets. It looks like the X39 is starting to have a decent bullet selection . My 78yo mother will be hunting with one of X39 this year. She has not hunted in about 13 years and never with a AR style rifle. So I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season! Mom on the rifle, me blocking ejected shells from landing in my wife's lap and my wife...too comfy to move! LOL Reloading the 7.62x39 is no different than any other round I shoot. I don't anneal the cases, but I do clean the flash hole, trim 0.010 max case length, polish the brass... If your just blasting, accuracy is not that important! Ahhh! The 300 BlackOut...my most unlike gun in my collection! My only AR that refuses to feed properly. It is one of the most accurate AR's I have too. In fairness the gun has a Osprey carbine length piston system on it and a Gibbs nonrecepracating left hand side charge. So until I get the the piston system off its just going to have to wait this seasons out. I am getting better velocity from the X39 and I'm all about more horse power! Neither cartridge is a 600yd shooter so the accuracy doesn't have to be super great...that said, my 16" and 20" X39 both shoot .5 MOA at 200yds so killing a deer at 100 yards or less should be an issue!
