I am finally trying to get my GA Precision Crusader in 6.5 PRC up and running. After months and months of searching the only powder I found which is suitable is IMR 7977. I have 8 pounds of the stuff and nothing else is available. This shortage is insane! Anyone using this powder with 140 to 143 grain bullets. Bullets are even seriously hard to find. I have 143 ELD-X and 140 Accubonds. I might be receiving some 147 ELD-M relatively soon. The only powder I will have for quite some time is IMR 7977. Thanks.

You should be able to find a load with 7977. I've been shooting it and H1000 in my 7 LRM and my 6.5 PRC and they both shoot very good.

Thanks. I hit the range today and had pretty good luck with the 140 Accubonds. For some reason I am having better luck with them than the 143 ELD-X which seems okay since one day I might get drawn for elk.

I just did some testing with 7977 and 156 EOL at .010 off the lands:

26" barrel, .30 cal suppressor
3 shot groups

56.0 2778 SD 14.6
56.5 2825 SD 21.5
57.0 2850 SD 19.8
57.5 2903 SD 10.7 (heavy bolt lift, slight ejector mark)

Anybody else have velocities to report? I was hoping for a little better.

RE: 6.5 PRC & IMR 7977
My results were similar to yours on 4/3/21
56.8gr...2821/2856/2854
57.0gr...2867/2862/2852
57.5gr...2829/2863/2885
I also has 3 heavy bolt lifts.
I tried it a second time
57.4gr-2889
57.4gr-2862
57.5gr-2888
57.5gr-2872
56.8gr-2826
56.8gr-2830
57.6gr-2871
Its still not as fast as I'd hoped.

This powder may be too slow burning for my 6.5 PRC.
It did work very well in 7mm Rem.Magnum

I was not impressed with this load..
I will say this ..I had much better results with IMR 4831

What length barrel are you using? I've actually got some IMR 4831 but I figured it would be too fast burning. I'll give it a try, I don't really have anything else that might be better.
