Accuracy for me 24 inch barrel 140 grain Berger was at 2848fps. I went higher in charge but got consistent ejection swipes. Others that ran a 26 inch barrel were in the 2900 to 2925fps area. As others had said Retumbo, RL26, RL23, 7828, basically some of the slower powders worked better in the speed area. Speed kill but accuracy kills way way out there. Just my 2 cents and if you don't run you 6.5 to hard you can get some extended barrel life. Mine gave up at about 4500 rounds but I pulled it out about 2 months ago and just was tinkering around and found a hard carbon ring past the throat. But I pretty sure it's still in the dirt. Need to get it replaced. It's been setting for about 4 years now and I have bought 3 different rifles since then to play with. So I'm not in a hurry but the 6.5x284 is a great caliber.
Hybrid 100 is a good powder but the 3100 depending on barrel length and how fast a barrel is, it might be a stretch to get that velocity an accuracy to come together. Also I really don’t think you will hit 3100 unless running like a 28 inch barrel. Reason being is you will probably pressure out first. I used the 100v a lot. Just my 2 cents and if you don’t run you 6.5 to hard you can get some extended barrel life. Mine gave up at about 4500 rounds but I pulled it out about 2 months ago and just was tinkering around and found a hard carbon ring past the throat. But I pretty sure it’s still in the dirt. Need to get it replaced. It’s been setting for about 4 years now and I have bought 3 different rifles since then to play with. So I’m not in a hurry but the 6.5x284 is a great caliber.
