Am planning a cape buffalo hunt, will try to load the 300 barnes with grooves, does anyone use this bullet and what do you load.

I shot two whitetails with it last year out of my 375 H&H. I used 71.5gr of R-15. Just work your way up and you will be fine. They seem to shoot well they just copper foul really bad in my rifle so I am taking a look at the fail safe. I was getting 2554fps with the 300 TSX and that is out of a stock Rem 700 with a 24inch barrel.

Me thinks you ought to contact a PH and take his recommendation.
If after the cape buff, I'd use nothing but factory loads. Most probably Winchester 300 gr solids. They run 2700 fps or better out of my #1.
Secondly I'd recommend the 375 H&H for the Buff as intermediated. I'd give consideration to at least a 416.
Just some tho'ts for consideration.
