Really don't need it, just want one( trying something differant) my eyes are not what they used to be, but I'm gonna try the long range thing one more time! Just gonna start short an work my way out long! Also gonna use it for a long range hog gun!!

    I run basically 3 loads: 180 Accubond with 100 grains of R22, 225 Accubond 100 grains H1000, 250 Accubond 98 grains H1000. All using Federal 215 primers

No trouble getting them to shoot. The 180's will get you 3500fps, reduce recoil, devastate small deer and antelope to 600 yards, pretty good rock shooter.

The 225 will get you about 3200fps. Mostly used these before the 250 was available. Kind of too much in the middle for me. Penetration not as good as the 250's.

The 250's will run 2900fps, start to be an advantage on medium, and larger game. My rock shooting seems to beat out the lighter weights from about 750 yards on.

If you're running a lighter weight rifle, the 180's are just more fun to shoot.

Wow 98 grains of H1000! Be very careful with that load.. Every gun is different but I shoot the 250 berger elite hunters at 2900fps with 215's and 93 grains of H1000, I got some serious pressure signs with 94.5 grains, stuck bolt and deep extractor mark.
I've been hearing that the burn rate for H1000 has changed so anyone using old data should start low.

Another issue I'm running into is powder avalibility. Hard to find H-1000 an Retumbo. Might have to go a differant route concerning powder! Ive got H-1000 an Retumbo, just have a hard time finding it!

    DT,

You're doing the 338 RUM a large disservice. Shooting those itty bitty bullets simply seems wrong. Not ranting or flaming just saying. Considering white tails are the quarry I guess that's ok.:)

H-1000 and Retumbo seem at the moment to be extinct. W/the 300 Bergers a case full of 50 BMG, which seems plentiful works really well. You might consider it for the 250 offerings.

Have fun and don't take any crap from folks like me. :D

Yeah I hear you on the availability of H1000 and Retumbo, I've heard good things about the RL25 but I've had such good luck with H1000 in heavy mags that I kept looking until a found some powder, believe me it's out there.

I would also have to agree with what Roy said; the 338 RUM is made for bullets 250 +, it's a freaking long range hammer:D
