I know 300 GR berger works in 338 edge but the 338 rum is slower. So my ? is that twist barrel will work best for the 338 rum 300gr berger at 2700 or 2750 ? Also will the same twits work for a liter bullet 225 gr ? Thanks for in put. Joe

Some are faster and some are slower. Both on average shoot the 300 grain bullet a little over 2800 fps with top accuracy loads out of a 30" barrel. Either may shoot best in the 2700's. They shoot the exact same numbers and the same twist apply to both. They are the same thing and neither will out shoot the other. For the 225 run a 1-12 tist and a 1-10 will stabilize the 300 grainers. Some shoot a 1-9.5 if all they shoot are 300's but I have never had a problem with the 1-10 in either.

I have a .338 RUM.

With 300 grain SMK's I get 2700 fps with a 26.5 inch barrel and 1 : 10 twist, we can't get the bergers down here.

With the same rifle and the 225 grain Hornady Interbond, I get 3100 fps easy and they are very accurate out of the 1 : 10 twist.

I hope this helps.

I like the 1 in 10 twist for all bullets.

A 30" barrel will do great with the 300 grain SMK and send the 250 or the 225 Accubonds down
range with great velocities and authority.

1 in 10 twist In my edge: 92 grains is as far as I have gone and have not found pressure yet. I can run 2850 with the bergers in a 24" edge, sierras about 2810. Prior to re-chambering this rifle which started life as a 338 winchester (and only put up with that cartridge for 12 rounds) it was throwing 300 grain bergers on 57gains at 2300ish and they where stable out to five hundred. Or at least the four I lobbed at that range grouped very well and hit square. Walt told me it would be no problem, and it wasn't a problem. 1in10 should be great for any of the standard 338 bullets.

My Norma is a 1-9.75, call it 10. The 300 hybrids shot for me, but my accuracy load was slower. I am going to try 285 hornadys soon, have em. I am curious about 250 berger hybrids also.Yet to be out soon??
