Hi fellas,

I finally found a new stock for my Savage 110BA from Stockade gunstocks - Kevin Rayhill.

I liked the BA price...but never liked the tactical look.....not long after i brought the 110BA they released the FCP......i had no idea it was coming out.....or i would have waited and purchased the FCP....

however the BA was a good platform for developing a reasonable load and getting to grips with long range hunting.....but after a few big carries into the backcountry the novelty of an 18 pound rifle was wearing off and i needed to do something about it.

I contacted most stock manufacturers and no one had a stock inletted for the savage 110 action in 338 LM......i searched for quite some time starting with the big name brands but no luck....eventually i ran into Kevin and stockade gunstocks. Stockade Gun Stocks - specializing in custom rifles

I had a hell of a time getting the stock out of the USA to New Zealand.....even with a import permit from the NZ police the export regs meant a good freind had to jump through all sorts of hoops to get the right paper work in place at the US end to get the stock out of the US.....the process took 5 months....but its finally here and fitted up with new glass bedding just completed.

Here are some photos of the newly stocked 110BA

Next mod i want to look at is the scope rail......i have modified the standard 110BA rail to loose the side rails etc.....but now i have a 2.3 inch scope offset.

Can anyone recommend a low profile 20 or 30 MOA rail that will bolt on?

Did Kevin paint the stock for you? He does good work. I have a cousin(SavageShtr) that same stock on his Lapua. I really like Kevin's stocks. Going to have to get one some day. As for the base, you might want to look into EGW bases. They are much lower and you can get them in 20MOA. I think they are making bases for the BA.

Cheers fellas....i'll look into the EGW option.....Off to the range this weekend to try some new loads and clean up the rest of my old ammo....

was running 88.5 grains of H1000 with 300g SMK's...

but now i have the new stock and intending to single load rather than load to fit the BA magazine i thought i would take the opportunity to get out near the lands and look for some more velocity....

Was thinking about heading up to around 92g of H1000 and checking for pressure signs along the way....i have been told by a long time lapua loader not to look at primer signs too much but to concentrate on case growth at the base of the case......and to look for no more than 4-5 thou....has anyone heard of or used this technique before?
