Ok folks,
Im now a member of the 338 Edge family. Gun stats-
Savage target Action
Jeweled trigger
32" McGowen barrel 1/10 twist
Bullets i have on hand are:
285gr ELD-M
250gr OTM
265gr ABLR
I know 300gr seems to be the popular choice but I have nothing else that runs these so figured I would try and work something up . Target mostly maybe some hunting between 600-800 yds for deer but may be execessive for whitetail.
Powders on hand:
H1000
RL22
RL26
Retumbo

Thanks,
Jim

have you check recommended twists for those bullets ?

i have 9.3 for 300's...remember it is length not weight

1000 is a recommended powder with the 300 bergers
i have seen little on lighter bullets
i have had GREAT luck with rl26 in a 300 win mag LONG
230 bergers at 3.7xx long throat
26.5" lija.....2912 fps...easy bolt lift
do not know how that will do in a 338

Mines a target action single feed so magazine lenth is not an issue. Will be better able to answer qustion when I get modified case and can setup comparator for max chamber OAL for each bullet. 1-10 twist will easily support up to250 gr but im not sure on 265 up. 32" pipe may help stablize it. Fella I got it from ran 300gr OTM Bergers @3010 fps. Didnt see it but seems a bit hot or crazy.
