Saw on several other posts, that members here have 338-06 rifles in their inventory. I had a mauser rebarreled and tuned up for this caliber some years ago. It has earned a reputation for being an awesome deer-hammer. However my only experience with shooting it has been 100yds and closer. Does this round make a decent "long range" caliber? I do not have an ackley improved so I know that those who do have some advantage over my set up. I handload 54gr of IMR4064 with Nosler 200BT, this has given me my most accurate load. I'm not sure what my range limitations would be with this cartridge.
