[QUOTE="rockwind, post: 1035148, member: 84735"] bought this rem 700 308 about 10 years ago and just now getting around to shoot it. need some reloading advice. the rifle was described to me as a PSS but i don't see that on the barrel or receiver anywhere. the bull barrel appears stock at 25" i've been shooting some 10 year old cabela's reloads that came in an old army can. also shooting some federal army surplus stuff i think (which is the suckiest of the two apparently) and some nosler match ammo. the federal M118 had muzzle velocity spread of 80 fps. the nossler had a spread of around 15 or 20, as did the cabellas reloads. my friend had an older chrono (with the "V" wires) i have 400 once fired lapua brass and 400 once fired federal brass. i have a lot of retumbo powder my best group of 3 shots (pictured) was at 200 yds with the cabellas reloads. sadly, i have no idea what bullet they use. my other groups were nothing to write home about. i was hitting about anything i wanted out to 400 yds yesterday with any of the ammo so it shoots pretty nice i think. 1. which brass should i use? 2. which bullets should i buy for target shooting, slight chance of hunting with it. 3. this must be a common enough rifle, i dont' want to spend hours experimenting with loads,,, does some have something cooked up already for this set up using retumbo and lapua brass? can you please share? email or even call? any idea if remington ever made a PSS model, and is this it? thank you in advance for any help or advice. i have never reloaded before.
