300 rum loads

Ok guys, I am hoping u can help me out I am shooting a 300 rum 180 nosler partition 94 gr retumbo but I haven't killed anything with it I used to shoot 165 gr nosler ballistic tip with IMR 7828 shot great but didn't kill elk great the bullets won't hold together so I need advice on what to shoot but I don't want a bullet that just bores a hole thru if u hit it in the ribs I hunt elk deer and antelope any advice would be great
