I have a Weatherby Accumark in this caliber and wondering if I should try some 210gr Berger or 208gr A-Max? I have only used the 200gr Accubond in it so far. Has anyone tried either of these two bullets in the .30-378?

Yes, I have took lots of game with the 210 Berger in my 30-378's. They have never failed me at any distance. The pic in my signature is my Accumark and the elk was taken with a 210 berger. That being said the 208 a-max shoots very well too. But I prefer the Berger on game.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to pickup some Berger and try them out.

i agree with Broz. I shoot the same load in my .30-378 accumark. 210 berger 98 grains of H1000 and fed 215m primers. nothing has ever taken a step. all i have shot is white tail and hogs wth mine though never any elk. good luck

How did you find the bullet on whitetail? Was there much meat damage/loss? I just ordered some 210gr for the 30-378 and some 190gr for my 300 Weatherby. Will post my results when the weather gets better and I can get out to the range.

Punch them in the slats. I don't save ribs anyway. But if you hit them in the shoulder you will loose most of the area hit. But then that is typical of any bullet from a 30-378 on deer.

yea if you shoot them in the shoulder you can pretty much forget any of that meat. the opposite shoulder will probably be hanging on by a thread.

Broz- have you shot yours at long ranges with this load yet to see how it does as far as bullet drop and grouping?

Yes, It does just fine and can hold 1 moa to 1000 i the stock accumark. In the custom barreled rifle with a 30" tube the velocity was 3120 and it will do sub moa. We have taken antelope with the accumark at 650 and the 30" rifle to 775. all DRT

I zero everthing at 100 yds and dial up using the exbal / NF program. But I am thinking of changing everything to 200 or 250.

In my rifles I have found that the Bergers are pretty good about not fouling fast. I have not had any issues with carbon either. But I keep my bores clean. I clean with Bore Tech Eliminator about every 40 or 50 rounds.

thanks for the tips broz. on another note have you ever had any issues with your safetys being tight? mine seems to be a bear to get to go back on safe. it comes off safe fine but takes some force getting it back on.

I have not. But I have heard of this with Mark V's. The fix is something needs bent or adjusted in the safety mechanism. I would contact a smith or send the bolt to Wby in the off season.

Have any of you tried 240smks in the 30-378? I ve been using 175 SMK - 3495 fps with a Lilja 30 inch barrel. Also holds about 1moa at 600 and 1000 yds. I use 180 yd zero with my Leupold B&C and that means its within 3.4" to 650 yds (180, 350, 500, 575 and 650 yds for each reticle mark) and makes for very quick shooting. Beyond 650 yds I use the turret. Was hoping that with a 240gr that grouping may be even better. Any comments about comparison of 210 Berger and 240 Smks?
