I've shot a good share of deer with the 140 Accubond and thought that even on our large mule deer it was borderline getting them open, I've never had one not open but I did recover a bullet that had blown through a buck high in the lungs that just hit a rib and even after plowing into the dirt it was open but not mushroomed. Elk they open and mushroom on!! I tried some SST's but could never get the accuracy I needed from them. I did shoot them into some test media and they sure nuff opened but more than I like, kinda the same as a ballistic tip. The whole shooting 130 vs 140 vs 150 gr really boils down to what your particular rifle will push, there is very little difference inside the most effective range of the 270 WSM. The best bullet so far I've shot is a 165 Matrix at 3053fps, it will blow the doors of the lighter bullets in the long run if you want to push the range on the 270 WSM. You also have the 175 Matrix and 169.5 Wildcats, neither of which I've gotten my grubby hands on so I don't have anything on them but they sound good!
