[QUOTE="royinidaho, post: 396312, member: 2011"] Let's do some calculations: How much velocity increase per inch of bbl beyond 22: Lets say 20 FPS, just guessing, but reasonable. 27" bbl, 58.5 RL-22 = 3190 FPS MV with the 140 NAB. 5" shorter barrel = 5 X 20 or 100 fps mv loss or 3090 FPS out of a 22" bbl. Switch to RL-22, learn to live with the temp. sensitivity and don't look back. Use Non Magnum primers also (CCI-200 are a good choice) PS: Whoever said 4831 is the powder for the 270 Win either passed away before more powders were available or should be locked up! 60 grains of the stuff would break 2900 fps by much, if any, out of a 24" bbl.
