The 270 WSM has its place. It is right in between the 270 Winchester and the 270 Weatherby. Both the WSM and the WBY are fine chamberings. The Weatherby wins with all bullet weights though. I have seen the numbers on different chronographs with different rifles. Anybody that tells you different is misinformed or is a 270 WSM owner. The two rifles fired in 24" barrels got closer in velocity but the Weatherby still trumped the WSM by at least 100 fps in all bullet weights. In the 26" barrels, the Weatherby really shined, topping the WSM by between 150 - 200 fps. You won't go wrong with either caliber. If you want the faster of the two, the Weatherby is your choice hands down.
