With your 24" barrel about the best velocity you can hope for is 3000 to 3100 fps which duplicates a 270 Win with the same bullet weight. For the all around one load will do it all I would get some 130 Accubonds and work up my best load and GO HUNT either deer or elk.
The 140 Sierra will work well on deer but for elk I would go with either the 140 Nolser Partition or the 130 or 140 Accubond. I shoot the 130 Accubond with 66.5grs Hodgdon Retumbo out of WW cases with CCI 250 primers and average 3350 fps out of my 27 3/4" Shilen barrel and 1/2" MOA accuracy. I only WT deer hunt with it but if that bullet will hit the edge of the left shoulder of a big buck at 111 yards with it still going at least 3100 fps. Then smash that shoulder bone and travel length wise through it's entire body and be found in the right ham next to the ball socket and still weigh 87 grs and look like a text book example of expansion it will kill an elk. The problem with your rifle is the 24" barrel which hurts the 264 mag a lot. I would try some H-4831 or H-1000 with the 130 or 140 gr bullet. With your 24" barrel about the best velocity you can hope for is 3000 to 3100 fps which duplicates a 270 Win with the same bullet weight. But a lot of elk are killed every year with the 270 so don't feel under gunned. For the all around one load will do it all I would get some 130 Accubonds and work up my best load and GO HUNT either deer or elk.
