I an new here and recently acquired a mint pre 64 model 70 in 243 winchester varmit version with a 26" barrel. I am looking for a good handloading data for Berger Bullets and would appreciate any info from you exsperienced handloaders. email is [email protected] Thanks, Ron.

Do you know the twist rate? My 26 inch Rem is a 9 1/4. Mine shoots 100/105/107 grains very well. I have been usinf 7828 ssc R-22 and the hodgdon hybr 100V. I'm waiting for a break in the rain to test the new Hodgdon superperformance.

I've kind of settled in on about .008 off the lands. I also only use nickle brass and just neck sizing. The speed sweet spot me seems to be right over 3100 fps

My twist rate is 10 in 1 and thought maybe RL 22 or imr 3031 maybe Varget with the lighter bullets. Just bought some 105 grn Berger vlds I am going to try. Ron.

My previous 243 was a 10 twist. I never bought lighter than 70 gr hp's Varget, h414, IMR 4350 R-19 maybe even R-17 I bought bulk bullets like 1000 TNT 70 & 75 gr hp 1000 80 Spbt's Nosler sells a nice 87 gr hpbt

look up hodgdon load data and most barrel manufactures give a bullt weight and twist rate for every caliber.

I am using a Tikka T3 Super Varmint with a 1 in 10 twist 20" barrel and am getting 0.5" groups at 200yds with;

Lapua Brass
Federal 210 primers
37.5 grains Varget
Seated 1-2 thou off the lands.
3030fps
Nightforce 5.5-22 x 56 Scope.

I have taken dozens of 400yd+ rabbits with this load.

Sorry Tank

80grain Berger Flat Base Varmint.

That's okay, I forget info all that time!:D Like I wanted to mention to the OP that guys are using RL17 and H4350 for the heavy bullets in 243. Never tried it personally, but I do know that RL17 gives me nice gains in my .308.

Contact Berger via e-mail (I did) and thye sent me load data for their bullets. I use the Berger 105 VLD Hunting as thye shoot better than the Match in my 8 twist Krieger. I am using 44.5 grains of H-4831 with Fed 210M Primers.

You need to chrono the speed and then try some of the newer super performance powders H100V and Hodgdon super performance

I chronied the load I posted and @3000 fps was the average. How do the newer powders holdup to that? Will there be less throat errosion than what I am face with? Thanks!
