240 weatherby mag

to add another point of tech discussion, is 7.5 twist too tight for the 115 grain bullets out there?? you guys are making me nervous as I have a Mauser action out being barreled with a 7.5 twist. I intend to push velocity to 90% of max for longer barrel life.

I have a 8 twist, 6mm-06 & shoot 87Vmax's, 100 Sierra Tip GK's, & 105 Sierra MK's & 105 Barnes Match Burners. I use H4350, H4831, RL23, VV N165, H1000, & Vectan 8000. The current component crisis requires using whatever is on hand. Cheap once fired .25-06, .270W, & .30-06 brass is used.

A 7.5 twist should be just fine for the 115's.
My rifle is an olde FN Mauser with a 26" McGowen #4 barrel.

The 240 as offered is awesome as a 450 yard and in gun for game up to 400 pounds. In a rifle like the ultra lightweight it makes a great stalking rifle with alot of speed and good terminal performance for not alot of recoil. Not my first choice as a 600 yard thumper, but even with a 8 twist and heavies 6mm wouldn't be my first choice. Not a match gun either. As a deer or antelope, yote or pig killer for most shots it is hard to beat.
