208gr. Amax .308win. COAL

i've been reading about people using the 208amax in 308 and having stellar results with rl17. my question is: with roomy brass and a goal velocity of around 2550fps with a 20" tube; will i be committing to a single load sitchuation? ear others out there geting these type numbers at mag length? like 2.990? thanx for all info!
