Thanks, guys. It was a great few days and we felt very fortunate to bring out 2 spike bulls. An update on the 300 SMK performance at 2980fps MV on the spike bull at 380 yds after butchering Saturday and recovering what was left of the bullet\. Not very far shot, I know, but perhaps the description will still be helpful to someone. The shot was a fairly steep downhill of about 20 deg +. The shot I had was down through the neck, into the chest and to the off side shoulder as I was shooting through about a 12" x 12" opening in the trees near the bull, but could clearly tell what I was aiming at. The bullet took out the spine of the bull, jellied the chest and severly damaged the offside shoulder, still retaining enough energy to shatter the top of the big front leg bone. This is were the base (probably about bottom 1/2 and somewhat mushroomed) bullet jacket was found sans lead, lodged against the skin after breaking through the leg/shoulder bone.
