I have a Win Model 70 long action standard bolt face action I'd like to rebarrel. Is the 284 Win too small to consider this bullet? Can someone give me velocity estimates for this bullet out of a 28" barrel?

Thanks for any recommendations/help.

Loaddata lists data from Barnes #3 manual for the old 195 7mm original. In a 24" barrel @ max load a 284 winchester cracked 2400 fps with IMR 7828, IMR 4350, and H 4831. I could not get it to stabilize in an older 7mm Weatherby Mag 1-12 twist. 1-10, or 1-9 would. Berger will be longer when it gets here and If I remember will likely take a 1-8.5.
28" bullet might get you to 2500 fps.

Berger is making a 195 gr for the 7mm it will not be out till june 2012. the 284 i do not think will work with 195 gr . You would be better with the 168 gr.
