I'm in the process of getting some loads worked up for the brother in laws new rig that he's going to try using for long range
(600yds max)
I'm wondering if the 175gr bullet woulden't be better in this application , I figure that it should kick less , shoot flatter and expand better (on small deer) than the 190 since the range is typicaly only going to be 400-500yds.

What are you thoughts and oppinions ?

I've shot a lot of the 190 Federal GMM out of 300 Win Mags, they're nice plenty accurate and store bought. If I were to begin hand loading for the 300 Win Mag I might be tempted to use the 175 SMK as they are faster and flatter than the 190's as you mention. 600 yards is still close enough to not need the extra BC the 190 might offer over the 175. I'd say use the 175's (I use the 175's in my 300 WSM).
