I am looking at the 0.338 250 grain SMK or NAB @ 3000 fps.

BC's are very close 0.587 vs 0.575, does anyone have any hunting results with either of these bullets...good or bad? Thanks.

Here is a exit on a Antelope with a 300gr SMK. I'd say good!!
Shot a Elk at 525 yards and had excellent results.

Thanks for that..not much tracking I bet :)

If the Accubond came in a 300 grain version with a BC very close to the SMK would you still choose the SMK?

If it were me it would come down to the one that shot better...I know thats not much help.

I have never fired either of the 250's but from my past experiences with the Accubonds it is a safe bet considering the differences in BC it could be a toss up.

I would go with (and did) the 300 grain SMK over the AB or 250 SMK much less wind drift with the 300 SMK

Thanks, I wish that I could but I don't have the twist for that one :)....

If the new Berger or A-Max come out with a 0.900 BC then I will start a new build with a 1:10 barrel!

The 300 SMK with it's .768 BC is very impressive at long range... Too bad that you don't have enough twist in your present barrel.
IMHO if the >BC of the new bullets is in the .9 BC range then one will need a 9 twist IMHO. My 10 twist barrel will not stabilize the Wildcat 325 grain bullet from my 338 Lapua.

No, I have not.
Sierra techs say that 1:12 @ 3000 for the 300SMK but I am 1:14 so the 250's will have to do for now.
When I decide to push the 300's to 3000 fps I will probably be adding a brake which this barrel does not have.

Hey, I know that guy! Great pic John.

Of the two bullets (the 250 smk and the 200 BT or AB) I would pick neither. I have had somewhat inconsistent terminal effects with the 250 smk (never with the 300 smk) and the 200 BT/AB is a bit too light for anything but a 338 federal and possibly the 338 win IMHO.

GG, if the 250 Accubond and the 250 SMK are no good at 3000 fps, do you have another suggestion in the 0.580 BC range?

Sorry, I had a brainnonya. I thought you were asking about the 200 bt not the 250 AB.
The 250 AB might be a great terminal bullet but I am disappointed in the bc of it. I ran the 225 AB against the 250 AB on exbal and it didn't have any significant improvement.

As for that weight range, there isn't much else except for the new re-invented Hornady BTHP 250 grainer. I haven't been able to find any yet, but the bc is supposed to be .675 and if they are using Hornady's normal jackets, they should open up like a bomb.

It's either that or wait for the Berger VLD's like me.

Thanks everyone:)
I'll give the 250 NAB's a shot first and see if they group well and go from there.
