Since prior post LRH and Vortex quickly sent the correct sunshade and a mailer for return of the over-sized one.
Good people to deal with

Since my prior review, we are still holding zero. That is good.
Once small snafu: The enclosed sunshade was for a scope with a differently sized objective (50mm vs 44mm). Hopefully LRH store will straighten this out for me.

My first Vortex Viper HS (6.5-24x50) is happily ensconced on a 300 WM and is doing well, so I opted for another Vortex when I needed a scope for a 7 RemMag rifle. I like their unbusy clear deadhold BDC reticle, low profile capped turrets, which click positively and reset to zero easily. I chose a 4-16x44 this time, but it gathers light like its big bother. A sunshade is included ....now if we only had some actual sunlight instead of rain. I digress.
The tube is a robust 30mm ....with clear optics all at a price point that is very competitive with some of the higher end merchandise. Sure, if you need first focal plane open turrents and Schott glass you can look elsewhere, but if your needs are more plebeian I would certainly consider Vortex.
I mounted mine (as I did with my other Vortex and my costlier Leupold) on a 20MOA EGW pic base with Vortex or EGW rings using a Wheeler fat torque wrench and appropriate levels.
Andy Backus shipped my optic insured in record time, priced right, and packaged with great care. Kudos guys.
