The Eberlestock Blue Widow pack is another great example of the Eberlestock "Go in light - Come out heavy" design principle, allowing a hunter to head out with a compact day pack with a 2200 cubic inch capacity and head back with the Eberlestock Blue Widow pack expanded to as large as 4700 cubic inches filled with meat, cape and horns from a successful hunt. The Eberlestock Blue Widow is basically a Dragonfly without the built-in rifle scabbard, which makes it a very popular pack for archery hunters when equipped with an Eberlestock ButtBucket (optional accessory). It also has a unique portal built into the frame's back wall designed to accept a rifle scabbard, making the Eberlestock Blue Widow a great choice for the hunter who will use it for both archery and rifle seasons.

Daypack mode - 2200 cu in         Mesh-fronted cargo compartment filled - 4700 cu in

(Shown with ButtBucket - optional accessory)

The Eberlestock Blue Widow frame system is simple, comfortable and stout. A full framesheet and internal aluminum stays give the Eberlestock Blue Widow a very stable load bearing platform. At the same time, the Eberlestock Blue Widow rides extremely comfortably whether loaded to the max or traveling light. The main pad section of the Eberlestock Blue Widow is adjustable to fit different torso lengths and a generous air space between the pads and the pack body allows for excellent ventilation.

The Eberlestock Blue Widow pack is comprised of two main vertical compartments with full-length heavy-duty zipper access as well as top access. In daypack mode the two main compartments are strapped together with the Eberlestock Blue Widow  pack's heavy duty compression straps. Break them apart to reveal a large mesh-fronted central cargo compartment designed to allow meat to cool in warm weather. A reversible zip-in solid panel (optional accessory) is available if you prefer a solid fronted pack for carrying gear. Or drop a Spike Camp Duffel (optional accessory) into the Eberlestock Blue Widow  central cavity for an even more substantial main compartment. The Spike Camp Duffel gives added flexibility in that you can fill the central mesh-fronted cargo compartment with meat or gear and then strap the Spike Camp Duffel to the outside using the pack's compression straps resulting in 7200 cubic inches of storage capacity.

Riding on top of the Eberlestock Blue Widow main compartments is a hydration-compatible removable top compartment with its own pull out waist belt, allowing it to be used on its own as a generously sized fanny pack. Removing the top compartment is also a way to minimize the size and weight of the main pack.

The Eberlestock Blue Widow pack is available in Eberlestock's NT-7 fabric which is waterproof and, like every other component of Eberlestock packs, extremely durable. Although quite substantial, Eberlestock Blue Widow NT-7 fabric has a soft and quiet micro fleece exterior and remains supple and quiet in cold temperatures. The  Eberlestock Blue Widow is also available in Eberlestock's 1000d Cordura Nylon which is waterproof and extremely durable.

Although the fabric is waterproof, the overall construction is described as "weather resistant". You may want to add a rain cover (optional accessory) to your Eberlestock Blue Widow for those extremely windy rains where the water can drive up, under and around the waterproof fabric.

I've used this pack for 3 seasons now. I've carried some 80-100lbs loads in it without issue. I also run in with a scabbard in it during rifle season. Scabbard accessory is the best if you want to do hands free hunting in steep terrain. Recommend getting the smaller waist belt if your waist size is less than 34". I'm at 34-35" and I have that belt cinched all the way down.
