I was also looking at doing a 25x280AI just so I could do a straight neck down....well pretty much straight neck down without having to blow shoulders out.
I had everything to build the rifle except for a reamer when an acquaintance of mine came by and offered me too much money for all the parts I had. Which I'm ok with.
With the availability of parts and wait times and me being busy as heck at work I'm thinking about haveing either Alamo precision or West Texas Ordinance put me something together. West Texas Ordinance has a 25x7prc that looks very very interesting.
My first attempt at it was at least 10-12 years ago.
Trued m700
#7 straight taper Shilen at 27.5"
Robertson stock
Gave me 3400fps with a 110 accubond with H4831.
Friends used RL-19 and 26" length with same velo.
My .25 Sherman is just getting loosened up, proof sendero 26", trued m700, McMillan thumb hole, Diamond trigger, 2.5-20 NX8 .
With the 133 Berger I want HP.
I keep thinking that I want to shoot the 130gr bullets but I'm doing a lot more predator hunting these days. My standard 25-06 with 115vld's is pretty good for deer and hogs. I'm thinking about trying some 80ish grain hammer bullets and make a 400yd lazer.
As far as 25x7prc brass goes you have hornady or lapua 300prc brass and a crap ton of work to make it. Even if brass was available right now the powders to fill those cases are extremely hard to find.
I think that a 25-06AI is the perfect 25cal. Decent performance and speeds with decent barrel life and great brass availability. Now I just need to get parts gathered up....again
I've been using the 115 BT for blowouts.
I'm going to spool some up when brass work is done. Ought to be fun at 3400+
I have been fortunate with components. Friends and family…
I'm just getting your messages from Sunday night. For some reason I got logged off. I'd definitely like to see a pic of all 3 side by side. What twist are you running with the heavies?
You should be able to click on the paperclip and attach the picture. But I think they have a rule about pics. You have to post X amount of times to get picture rights......I think.
Haha I see that! That sherman is an improved ackley improved. A lot of the time when those cases get blown out the necks get a lot shorter but it looks to have the same neck length as a standard 25-06
Very interesting! I assumed that a 1:8tw would be on the ragged edge of stability for the 135's. I'd be curious what RL26 and Retumbo would produce. What is your fire forming load?

What setup are you running in the 25-06AI?
